Opening up wells through prophetic intercession

How is your prayer life?  I would like to summarise some of the main points in a chapter from Lou Engle’s book, “Digging the wells of Revival” He says (1) that chronos prayer is “the ‘day in… day out’ prayer that seems to have little effect but in truth it slowly fills the bowls of heaven. Kairos prayer on the other hand is the travail that brings the special times, the  ‘divine appointments’ on Gods calendar to pass…. What is important here is that much prayer must be presented to the Lord during the chronos times before there can be an overflowing into kairos events.”

“…The faithful chronos prayer is evident in the life of Cornelius a devout God-fearing Gentile. If he hadn’t prayed in chronos times.. he would not have seen the kairos event that led to the outpouring of the spirit among the Gentiles.”(2) Daniel was faithful three times a day for 70 years to pray persistently, but his prayers were not mere routine. He remained faithful and loyal to God from his youth and he was highly esteemed by God. “Daniel’s prayer from a pure righteous heart so affected heaven that the angel Gabriel came to him, saying, ‘as soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed.’ “(3) Those that are highly esteemed by God are people, “These are the people who bring about the kairos moments of God, the reopening of revival wells, long closed .”(4)

It is out of our hearts that our prayers flow. How are we doing in guarding our hearts that are wellsprings of life? It is from our hearts that the springs of life flow. We keep our hearts with all diligence when we love him as our bridegroom and fear him as our judge and obey him as our king, our hearts.. then  our hearts are prepared for him to use us in prophetic intercession.   Daniel came across Jeremiah 29:10 ‘  when 70 years are completed for Babylon I will come to you and fulfil my gracious promise to bring you back to this place.” Daniel realised it was time, 70 years had passed and Daniel humbled himself confessing the sins of his people and he prayed for the fulfilment of the secrets God had revealed to him.(5)

“Our world needs Daniels, intercessors who will study the scriptures and live holy lives that give authority to their intercession… and labour for the coming salvation of God until it is revealed… They are the Annas and Simeons who continually stay in the Lord’s presence serving him day and night with fastings and prayers believing with faith they will yet receive what God has promised – even if the promise was given many years before.”(6) Frank Bartleman was the prayer warrior that God used to open up a revival well, the Pentecostal outpouring at Azusa Street, in 1904.

Revival prayer requires intercessors to birth God’s purposes, with an all-consuming prayer. Lou Engle quotes Mario Murillo, who says,

“In revival prayer, a person presents himself before God to give birth to an act of God in his city. He is not muttering requests, he is suspending his very being between God and man. At first it is just words and petitions, but soon it envelops the person. He is reduced to one long, all- consuming declaration. His whole body becomes the prayer. “Hannah achieved this state when Eli thought she was drunk ..”When he prayed for rain Elijah literally assumed the position the Jewish women assumed in order to give birth. ‘So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but  Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and his face between his knees.” 1 Kings 18:42.”(6)

“The sign of the church is the woman in travail. According to Revelation 12 the church in every generation from Eve to Mary to the bride of Christ is in travail “for the sons of God to be revealed” Romans 8:19…. The travail is God’s means for bringing forth all that he has promised and purposed. This kind  of intercession is by appointment only.”(7)

“This is a type of the holy travail that God is sending on his faithful ones who have persisted in the chronos times and are now privileged to give birth in these kairos times.”(8)

Jesus fulfilled his purpose in his days on this earth.(9) “During the days during the days of Jesus’ life on earth He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death,  He was heard because of his reverent submission.” Hebrews 5:7

“Those who sow in tears WILL REAP with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy carrying sheaves with him” Psalm 126:5-6

“Nations around the world are controlled by demonic principalities and the enemies of God. We need intercessors who by their very travail will pull down these principalities, and close the mouths of these lions. We need spiritual warriors who will not be discouraged or distracted by the worst that Satan can throw at them, but will consecrate themselves to digging the wells of revival where they live.”(10)

Final worship night with Firestarters

On our final night Lynn Howson, the Firestarters founder declared that Jesus is our Commander in chief whom we obey. He is our king of righteousness. We entrusted those issues that we battle with.. one by one they were spoken out..on Saturday night.. anxiety, health, lust, and we declared that Jesus will be victorious over them.

3 themes emerged over this week, Jesus is our bridegroom, judge and king, and tonight declarations were made of Jesus as King of righteousness and commander in chief over our battles  How do we open up wells through prophetic intercession?..by diligently loving Jesus as our bridegroom and fearing Jesus as our judge and obeying Jesus as our king,  our hearts are then prepared for him to use in prophetic intercession, in declaring his living word, through  kairosprayer

Jesus is our BRIDEGROOM and he has a BURNING HEART OF LOVE for us (see Connie Taylor teaching posted on 9 August teaching)

Jesus is our JUDGE and we need the FEAR OF  GOD (see first part of Connie Taylor’s teaching posted on 12 August )

Jesus is our KING and we need to obey him (see second part of Connie Taylor’s teaching posted on 12 August) and STRONGHOLDS will come down (see Connie Taylor teaching posted on 10 August)

Lord Jesus Christ, you are my bridegroom, my judge and my king…you are the living word of God! ….break out in my life , in my community and in my nation again,UNBLOCK THE WELL OF THE LIVING WORD TODAY!.

On Saturday night we sang with many  local christians who joined us, over the deep deep wells of revival  here in Barvas, on the Isle of Lewis where the 1949 revival broke out.
